Known more commonly as the ‘original’ Moutai, characterized by its distinct flavour and mellow yet pleasant after-taste. It was awarded the honourable title of National Liquor, the highest accolade for any wine or spirit in China.
Moutai is distilled spirit from only 3 ingredients: sorghum, wheat and water from the pristine Chishui river. Moutai’s complex taste and aroma is highly attributed to the unique production process and ingredients which are harvested according to the Lunar calender. Moutai is the most well-known brand of Baijiu in the world. It is considered a luxury item within Chinese culture, with a long and rich history.
The liquour is named after the town of Moutai in China where it is exclusively produced (Guizhou province). Much like Champagne or Cognac, Moutai, the spirit, can only be given that name if it is produced in the town of Moutai.”

AROMA : “Sauce” fragrance, the boldest of the classifications, which also include thick fragrance, light fragrance and honey fragrance.
PALATE : It is distinctly savory. Not salty, but savory and funky and fermented. As for the high alcohol level, there’s no burn on the palate but it’ll feel a subtle warmth in the chest.
